Guess what I did?

I just baked. 225. Freaking. Snickerdoodles. That's like 19 dozen!

It just about took forever.

But that's beside the point! Cause you know what is? In the point?
I have a friend.
Finally! Yes, yes, it's the brunette girl from Physics. Well.....let's just say it happened like this....

I was walking to the Physics room and was just outside the door when a boy ran out, red-faced and angry. In the process, he knocked everything out of my hands, including my favorite mug, which was filled with hard-earned hot cocoa. I had gotten it in art class that day. On Fridays, they always let us have cocoa. Anyway. It fell to the floor along with my homework, where it lay, smashed and battered next to the carefully written out math formulas, onto which it was now seeping brown liquid.
Great.
Apparently, June had been standing right behind me, although I hadn't known it. She grabbed the boy's arm and made him stop. Through tear-stained eyes (Hey, I'm sensitive. And that was my favorite mug!) I could see him look up at her unhappily.
"What?" he snarled. June stared down at him.
"You knocked down her stuff."
"What's it to you? She ain't got any friends." June took in a breath and closed her eyes for a second. I watched, mouth open. Was she okay? I wasn't hurt by the remark, because after all, it was true. And it wasn't as if I hadn't heard it before. But clearly June hadn't known this, and she was in a good deal of pain. Had he kicked her? No, then what was wrong? But by the time all this had spun through my head, June had wrapped her short arm around me and had already replied.
But what had she said? The boy looked at me, with my soaked shoes (the cocoa) and round, nerdy glasses.  I could see him look at my ponytail, probably messy, and rumpled t-shirt. Then he looked at June and said,
"You? Her friend? She ain't got no friends, I'm telling ya." Then he was off, and I was left with a girl half-hugging me and shattered glass lying dejectedly on the tiles. Did that mean she had told him we were friends? It appeared so. I was left to wonder until later that afternoon, as I was walking to my locker, a girl shoved me. I turned and stared dumbly.
"Oops." she said mockingly. "Was that your body?" Her friends sidekicks guffawed. I tried to come up with a stinging comeback, but nothing came.
"Uh-I-uh..." I managed to stumble out, noticing June walking down the hall in our direction. ~Please don't see me....Please don't see me....~ I prayed. I didn't want her to see this. She was supposed to be m friend, but would she stick up for me when so many were teasing me?
They had stopped "laughing" and were now trying to think of the worst things to say to me, which included "Nerd!", "Geek!", "Loser!", and -here was June! ~don't notice me~ almost there- and, finally, "Friendless!".
I winced at that one because it was new. And it was such a fresh wound, having seen June walk by without acknowledging me in the slightest.
Unfortunately, they saw me flinch. Soon they had formed a tight circle around me, yelling, "Friendless! Friendless!" I shrunk into a corner, petrified. Their voices pounded into my head. "Friendless! Friendless! Friendless!" Friendless. Friendless.......Friendless. Friendless. What was that? I whipped my head up at this point, for here was June, shoving her way through the coven of hags and standing by me. I smiled up at her weakly, but I don't think she saw. Anyhow, she looked defiantly at them and said-
"I'm her friend. In fact, we're going.....to the mall today. Now. Let's go, Mala!"

We went to the mall, and it was bliss. For 3 hours, we sat there, drinking milkshakes and chatting about life. She did most of the chatting, as I only wanted to hear about her. I knew what my life was.
Boring.
I wake up, say hi to my boring family, make sure I'm wearing my boring clothes, eat (boring) food, and go to boring school.
She, however, had a life. She had joined a club where all you do is talk, and for the whole class, if you talk for less than 5 minutes, you are kicked out of the club! And, boy, she could talk! She mentioned her Irish Wolfhound, Bailey, and I briefly spoke of my rug of a Saint Bernard, Emma. She told me about her two brothers, and one sister, who can play the piano like Liberace. Liberace! I would die to be able to play anything! Speaking of that, she said she would teach me to play the viola if I wanted to. And boy, did I ever! We start next week. She said she has an artistic mother, and a father who bakes and grills and cooks and begs for a stove for Christmas as the other dads beg for power tools and free Internet Shopping.

I can't wait to meet them all!

Oh, blog I'm glad I got you after all!

Do I even have viewers? Somebody? Anybody? Hello.....?

So...

That girl followed me to the materials bin in Physics today. She has brown hair and her name is June. I think she's almost as shy as me! (And that's saying something.)
After Physics, I thought nothing could dampen my day!
Then, of course, someone had the courtesy to happily shove my horribly orderly books down the stairwell, where they lay, much better arranged.
Another visit to the guidance counselor. Another lecture. Why is it that when I go to the guidance counselor to feel better and get a good "moral of the day", she just makes me feel worse? The guidance counselor here stinks.
At least I finished my project early! That way, I have more time--to sit around and be friendless.

Gahhhhhhhhh....... someone tell me how to get to Narnia (seems much better there)

Still friendless but hanging in there on account of brown haired physics student

Guess what!

I'm so excited! Something finally happened today!

It's not big, but I thought it was great.
I was walking in the hallway, when some 6th grader stopped me and asked where the writing lab was. I told her, proud that I knew, and that I looked like part of the crowd. When I glanced up, a girl was smiling at me. I remembered her from one of my classes-perhaps Physics. I smiled back timidly, but it was too late, she had turned around. Still, I was in a good mood the rest of the day, even once I got to lunch and they were serving corn dogs with extra dijon mustard. Ew. I didn't eat it, but I wasn't hungry either.

Maybe things will be better.

Finally

Now I actually have time to tell you who I am, and why.

I am Mala Anderson, an eighth grader at Smithshowe Middle School. I moved here basically at the end of the year with my mother and younger sister, Ally, who drives me insane with her gibberish talk and silly antics.
I have no friends here yet. There's no one, really, who even seems friendly. Even my neighbors seem cranky and removed. So I'm hoping I'll be getting my necessary "social communication" from this blog. I need "social communication" to get through life, or at least that's what my guidance counselor says. I'm down there with her for lunch every day, picking through my greasy french fries with disgust.
"Mala, you need to get out there and do things!" Mrs. Leander exclaimed, staring me down over her sharp nose. A nice way of saying, "Get a life, Mala. You suck." I sighed. "Yes, ma'am. I'll try." But I didn't. And I won't. This school is miserable. The teachers seem to have a fascination with droning on and on about things I learned last year. In my old school, we were ahead of everyone else in lessons.

This stinks.
Well, I GUESS I'll see ya later, then.

Explanations

So, first day was tortue. Teachers were ECH and students were BLECH. Not to mention the food. *gag*

Students treated me like chopped liver. They rammed into me full speed and laughed. They brushed right past me in the hall at the least!

I'm a delicate person! Gosh. Oh well, guess it coulda been worse. There, that's my motto for the year. Coulda been worse. Yeah. Nice, right?

Me

First Day

Of school, that is.
It was pretty crazy.
 No one talked to me.
 No one cared.
Lovely.
I'll have to talk to you later, blog thingy, I have to go eat.
